Wanted & Our ideal town (Music & English!)

¡Alerta en las aulas! Este trimestre, los departamentos de Música e Inglés hemos unido fuerzas en un emocionante proyecto interdisciplinar para los alumnos de 1º de ESO. Hemos conectado los contenidos de ambas materias de una forma de lo más original, convirtiendo al alumnado en una red de investigadores privados para localizar a varios instrumentos musicales que se habían dado a la fuga.

La magia de este proyecto ha sido el "crossover" entre asignaturas. Previamente, en la clase de Inglés, los alumnos habían diseñado su propia "ciudad ideal" (trabajando el vocabulario de lugares, direcciones y descripciones urbanas). Debían pensar sobre todo en la gente joven, gente con capacidades diversas, y sostenibilidad (instrucciones proyecto). Después, en la materia de Música, rescatamos ese proyecto para resolver el gran misterio: ¡esa ciudad ideal fue precisamente el último lugar donde se vio al instrumento antes de desaparecer!

Uniendo ambas ideas, cada grupo diseñó un detallado cartel de "Se busca" (Wanted) en inglés que incluía:

Identidad completa: Nombre oficial del instrumento, su apodo en el mundo musical y su clasificación correcta (viento, cuerda, percusión...).

El historial delictivo: Un compositor famoso que lo utilizara y 3 obras musicales imprescindibles donde se le puede escuchar.

Rasgos físicos: Una descripción detallada de su forma, materiales y sonido.

Últimas pistas: Dónde lo vieron por última vez, las razones urgentes de por qué queremos recuperarlo, la recompensa para el que lo encuentre y, por supuesto, ¡un teléfono de contacto para emergencias musicales!

Lo mejor de la investigación

Aprender investigando: A través del juego y la ficción, los alumnos han interiorizado las características de los instrumentos, su sonido y su repertorio de una forma mucho más significativa que con una simple lectura de un libro de texto.

Trabajo en equipo y lengua extranjera: Cooperando en grupo, han redactado toda la información en inglés, mejorando su vocabulario técnico musical y su expresión escrita.

El pasillo de música está ahora lleno de estos originales carteles de búsqueda. ¡Esperamos que con la ayuda de todos logremos recuperar los instrumentos antes del próximo concierto!

 

    

Classroom Alert! This term, the Music and English departments have joined forces in an exciting interdisciplinary project for our Year 7 (1st ESO) students. We connected the contents of both subjects in a highly original way, turning our students into a network of private investigators on a mission to track down several musical instruments that had gone on the run.

The magic of this project lay in the "crossover" between subjects. Previously, in their English class, students had designed their own "ideal city" (working on vocabulary related to places, directions, and urban descriptions). They had to focus specifically on young people, people with diverse abilities, and sustainability. Later, in Music class, we brought that project back to solve the grand mystery: that ideal city was precisely the last place the instrument was spotted before vanishing!

Combining both ideas, each group designed a detailed "Wanted" poster in English that included:

• Full identity: The official name of the instrument, its musical nickname, and its correct classification (wind, string, percussion...).

• Criminal record: A famous composer who used it and 3 essential musical works where it can be heard.

• Physical traits: A detailed description of its shape, materials, and sound.

• Latest clues: Where it was last seen, the urgent reasons why we want it back, the reward for whoever finds it, and, of course, an emergency contact number for musical emergencies!

The Best Parts of the Investigation

• Learning through research: Through play and fiction, students have internalized the characteristics of the instruments, their sound, and their repertoire in a way that is much more meaningful than simply reading a textbook.

• Teamwork and foreign language: By cooperating in groups, they wrote all the information in English, enhancing their technical musical vocabulary and written expression.

The music hallway is now filled with these original search posters. We hope that with everyone's help, we can recover the instruments before the next concert!
