The Orchestra & Order and Harmony (1ºB)

THE ORCHESTRA

Juzguen ustedes mismos.

ORDER AND HARMONY

--------------------

Last term, our students in 1ºB carried out the following projects in their Music lessons:

THE ORCHESTRA

In this activity, the students have created a mural depicting the arrangement of the instrumental families in the orchestra. They have learned to name the string, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Additionally, they have become acquainted with the roles of the conductor and the concertmaster. Just seeing some examples is enough to know that our students have a high artistic potential. Judge for yourselves.

ORDER AND HARMONY

Through this activity, students have learned how musical works are structured, both in classical music (sections and phrases) and in popular music (chorus, verse, bridge, solo, coda, etc.). They have also been able to learn about the main forms of classical music (sonata, symphony, concerto, opera, song, etc.). They have learned to distinguish the parts of a popular song by analyzing two very clear examples in this regard: "Shape of My Heart" (Sting) and "Highway to Hell" (ACDC).

First, they completed a worksheet of activities proposed by the teacher. Once corrected, they were given the opportunity to do an analog or digital project titled "Order and Harmony." The starting point to introduce the topic consisted of presenting to the students a three-dimensional cube, which represents a common structure for all. Through transformations, additions, deletions, and a lot of imagination, the students have created their own masterpieces, and the results did not disappoint us at all.

PREPARING A CONCERT

Looking ahead to the next school term, the students have started rehearsing to delight us with a concert of vocal and instrumental music. Will anyone dare to dance?
